Muga Seleccion Especial is made from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano grapes harvested from the slopes of Montes Obarenes and Sierra Cantabria. After fermentation in the Muga family's own oak fermentation tanks, the wine is aged for 26 months in 40% new French oak barrels and 60% second-fill French barrels, which are also stored and toasted here at the winery. After fining with fresh egg whites, it is aged for a further 12 months in bottles in the Muga cellar system before being released onto the market.
