One of Marlborough's first wineries, Cloudy Bay, founded in 1985, put New Zealand on the wine map. It was gently pressed, settled for 24 hours and then fermented in French oak barrels, some of which were new barrels with local yeasts. Ageing also takes place in these barrels. The nose is initially restrained, then slowly unfolds subtle nuances of tropical fruit, honey and graphite. The palate is complex: peach, citrus, fresh brioche and toasted walnut layers enchant the senses. An elegant acidity and an exciting savoury minerality are in perfect harmony with the lively fruitiness. The Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc thus exudes a fine elegance, with a long, restrained and truly noble character.
