The tangible result of István Szepsy Sr.'s 32 years of plot and clone selection work is the late harvest in Mád. Parcel 3574 of the Urbán vineyard, which serves as the raw material, consists of Furmint clones selected from parcels Urbán 3573 and Szent Tamás 068/46 and planted in 2016. The source vineyards have proven over many years that they are not prone to rot, i.e., they do not develop botrytis, making them perfect for late harvest in a year like 2021. It was a cool, dry, windy autumn, so the berries shriveled nicely while retaining high acidity. This exciting experiment shows that the variety is botrytis-free, but when fully ripe, it is rich in aroma and flavor, full-bodied and harmonious. It fermented in tanks, aged for 6 months in new and once-used 300-liter oak barrels, and was bottled with 86.2 grams of residual sugar. Its origin is undeniably mineral, vibrant, delicately sweet and fruity, with notes of pear, quince and citrus.
